Those
who came to the Toddler Storytime and the Preschool Storytime at the Sequim
Branch Library enjoyed hearing the music of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and learning some traditional
stories. This is the second year that Youth Librarian Antonia
Krupicka-Smith has partnered with the tribe to celebrate National Native
American History Month. All the children enjoyed the traditional Welcome Song
of the Tribe. Tribal Librarian Siri Hiltz then introduced Orca the Whale to the
children and told stories using a story pole. The children got the chance
to make their own story stick puppets of traditional tribal figures. Find out
more about the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Library here: http://library.jamestowntribe.org/.
The Sequim Branch sends out a big Thank You! to the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe drummers and singers and Tribal
Librarian Siri Hiltz for another great program!
The
drummers from left to right are Janis King, Melissa Smith, Carmen Maxwell,
Sally Fairbanks, and Jeremy Monson.
